"I had the privilege of an audience with Pope John XXIII every year during his pontificate. On the very first visit, he asked me if I knew what Malachy had prophesied concerning him. Malachy was a monk of the Middle Ages, a friend of St. Bernard, who prophesied in cryptic terms each Pontiff (Pope) until the end of history - the last one being Peter II. I answered ‘Pastor et Nauta.’"

"‘That is what I was in Venice,’ he continued, ‘a ‘shepherd’ or head of the diocese, and a ‘sailor’ because of its waterways. Because you knew that, I am giving you a little special gift - not precious; you need not take it if you wish.’ He presented me with a small silver gondola."

Based on the predictions of the monk Malachy, the pope after Pope Benedict XVI is Peter II.
